For the moment, there’s no easy way to mass-delete tweets.

But here’s one work-around that you might want to consider:

1. Create a new account and set it to public. You can pick any temporary name you want for this new account in the meantime .

2. Rename your existing account to another account name. Maybe to make it easy to remember, you can add an underscore to your existing name.

3. Change the name of your new, public account to your current account name.

Note: After you rename your account in Step 2, your account name becomes temporarily available to anyone else who may want to use it. So I suggest you do Step 3 quickly right after you do Step 2 (this is why I suggest that you create the new account first so the time between Steps 2 and 3 can be as short as possible).

You’ll end up with two accounts, one public and one private. At this point, you can choose to keep the first account as is and stop updating it, or you can opt to delete that first account completely (thereby wiping out all your tweets).

If you decide to delete the first account, please make sure you remove your phone and IM from the page so you can reuse those devices in the second account.

The drawback to this approach — you’ll need to rebuild your followers and friends with the new account.
