How do you put nintendo ds games on to the ds?

I’ve downloaded about 20 different files, extracted them, but I dont know what I’m looking for. I get a sfv file and an nds file, but when i put it in my r4 card and onto my ds it says i need a sav file, and asks me if i want to create one. I pressed yesy and it just goes to a white screen and nothing happens. By the way, the game is sims 3 and its just a normal ds lite.
